ABSTRACT: This work aims to determine the Hubble constant and the Age of the Universe through the observation of Gravitational Lenses. A Gravitational Lens is formed due to a distortion in spacetime caused by the presence of a massive body between an object and the observer. The current project aims to use this variability using data obtained from light curves to determine signal delays between components of different quasars using algorithms of recurrent neural networks. The systems that were studied in this project were the quasar-lenses: HE0435-1223, HS 2009+1914, RX J1131-1231, SDSS J1001+5027 and SDSS J1206+4332, and later, the analysis of the results and the construction of the analysis for extragalactic objects in other electromagnetic spectra, such as x-rays. From the objects mentioned, it is possible to determine the Hubble constant and the age of the Universe with significant precision, since it is proportional to the dispersion speed of the lens galaxy and inversely proportional to the signal delay of its components. Thus, knowing the delay between the signals A and B of two components of quasars, the Hubble constant can be calculated - an important observation to make is that observations recorded over a long period were used, otherwise these variability would be imperceptible, since when there is a plot of data as a function of time, there is no clear visualization of light peaks for short periods. Since the inverse of the Hubble constant has a time dimension, it is possible to estimate the age of the universe in this way. The study of gravitational lenses is of great importance for Cosmology, being able to measure the mass of astronomical objects, regardless of their light content, discovering new planets using them, measuring distances between galaxies and their distance from the Earth , and several other applications in the field of Exact and Earth Sciences. |
